Mark Morabito is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur, investor, and mining executive. He serves as CEO & Chairman of Intrepid Metals Corp. and President and CEO of King and Bay West Merchant Bank.
Mark focuses on identifying, funding, developing, and managing business opportunities within and beyond the natural resources sector. His work spans public and private companies, supported by more than two decades of experience in merchant banking, corporate development, and junior mining. Over the course of his career, he has raised more than one billion dollars in capital markets.
He began his professional career as a corporate finance and securities lawyer after earning his J.D. from Western University’s Faculty of Law. After several years in legal practice, he transitioned into business leadership, applying his legal and strategic background on the operating side of complex ventures.
Mark has been the founder and principal driving force behind multiple successful resource development companies, including two that progressed from initial listings on the TSX Venture Exchange to full NYSE listings. At Alderon Iron Ore, he played a key role in securing a $400M strategic agreement with HBIS Group, then China’s largest steel producer, marking the company’s first investment outside of China. Mark led the deal that resulted in Teck Resources (TSX: TECK.A)(NYSE: TECK) agreeing to become a strategic investor by acquiring a 9.9% equity stake in Intrepid Metals Corp, a company he founded from startup in 2021.
Under his leadership, King and Bay West Merchant Bank has grown into a respected merchant bank and public company services provider, focused on enhancing value across its portfolio of public and private companies.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Mark’s hobbies include boxing and gym fitness. He is a proud father of two daughters, whom he travels with regularly. He is deeply interested in space exploration and is currently listed as number 444 to ride on Virgin Galactic.
Originally from Ontario, Mark now lives and works in Vancouver. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University.
